Juventus back Ronaldo after Rape Allegations

The Turin club have praised their player's "professionalism and determination" and say the allegations made against him "do not alternate this opinion"

Juventus have backed player Cristiano Ronaldo in the wake of a summons being issued for the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner over an alleged rape.

Kathryn Mayorga accused the player of sexual assault in her inn room in 2009 via an interview released last Friday by Der Spiegel.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has shown in latest months his wonderful professionalism and determination, that is appreciated by all and sundry at Juventus,” the Turin giants said via Twitter.

“The activities allegedly dating back to nearly 10 years in the past do not change this opinion, which is shared by anyone who has come into touch with this awesome champion.”

The declaration comes in the way of a denial from the player, who stated: “Rape is an abominable crime that goes against the whole thing that i am and believe in.

“Eager as I may be to clear my call, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people looking for to promote themselves at my expense.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s lawyer has formerly stated: “The reporting in Spiegel is blatantly illegal.”

He added that he had been told to seek compensation for "moral damages" over "probably one of the most serious violations of personal rights in recent years".

A statement released from LVPD, stated by the BBC, said: “at the time the report was taken, the victim did not provide detectives with the location of the incident or suspect description.

“As of September 2018, the case has been reopened and our detectives are following up on facts being provided.”
